One of the main things I hear all the time from people is ” I dont know where to start “or “I feel like I am not making progress”. Everyone wants to live a healthier lifestyle but its overwhelming sometimes and people don’t know where to begin.The truth is health like any thing else in our lives is all about habit. You have to be consistent. Make a pattern you can follow. Here are 5 things you can implement into your life to get you started or to add into the healthy lifestyle you are already working on.
1 MAKE YOURSELF A SIMPLE MENU & FOOD PREP:
If you know what your going to eat and have the supplies you are much more likely to do it. And if at least a portion is made ahead of time its easier! You are not going to make intense healthy meals every night!! It won’t happen so don’t fool yourself. In the moment of hungry you can’t think straight so you go for anything so plan ahead. Make your meats ahead of time. Its easy in a crock pot or on the grill. I make mass amounts of grilled chicken on sunday and do a whole crock pot of shredded chicken or pork loin. Chopped veggies, make egg cups (recipe posted)etc. My meals take 10 -30 min MAX because I food prep.
2. MAKE A WORKOUT APPOINTMENT :
Do it at the same time every day if possible (or a routine time for each day ) Example : I bet you brush your teeth everyone morning around the same time. Its in your routine. It happens everyday because its a habit. If you know everyday you had an appointment with exercise you are more likely to do it. DO NOT schedule other things during your date with exercise . No dr apps, play dates, shopping trips etc. You already have plans so stick to it.
3. DO NOT SKIP MEALS:
If you skip a meal you blood sugar drops your body goes into starvation mood and begins to eat your muscle and you start to crave carbs (because its a fast source of energy to raise your blood sugar) When you do eat your starving so you over eat. Then your blood sugar spikes and your body stores access food as fat. That is how people gain weight! Treat your metabolism nicely and it will treat you nicely! Eat about every three hours even something small . If your not hungry cut your snack in half but eat! This will keep your metabolism chugging along!!
4. BE PREPARED WITH SNACKS.
You can’t always control your day but you can control being prepared. I NEVER leave my house without a quest bar, apple, light string cheese, bell bepper, almonds, tuna packet etc in my purse. (I have even been caught with a can of soup) I am actually known for this among my friends. I always have food on me! Sometimes your out and about and get hungry and if your at a store,mall or near a gas station you are likely to grab some chips or something to munch on. Don’t! Reach in your purse and pull out your snack and give yourself a pat on the back for being prepared.
5. Most importantly DONT WORRY ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE THINK:
I get tease all the time for my crazy habits but I don’t care! Habits shape your life and I want a healthy fit one! Don’t let ignorant comments get to you. They will say crazy things and discourage you! But truly its personal self esteem issues they are having and they don’t want to see you succeed. Weather your trying a new exercise at the gym(I do crazy things on the stair steppers and get crazy looks) or eating a snack in the middle of a concert , or choosing the healthy item on a menu when everyone else orders burgers. People will mock you or look at you funny!! But you have to BE DIFFERENT to LOOK DIFFERENT !! Alot of those same people will come back to YOU one day and ask for help getting in shape!
If you can add these few things into your life and make a pattern, thread them into your daily activities you will feel better and look better in no time at all!
